Race Route

Swim Course:
The swim will take place in a river at castleconnell the worlds end.
The swim will be one lap of the 750m course shown below.
The swim will be a mass start with all competitors entering the water beforehand then following a canoe around the course.
All competitors should pass through both sets of gates on the last leg of the course to avoid any reeds and after passing through the last gate head for the slipway.
The last gate marks 100m to go, as shown on the map.
No competitor should ever pass the line of bouys to the left of the slip (the leftmost line of buoys in the picture).

Transition Area 1
The first transition area will be in the carpark.
Competitors will exit the water at the same point as they entered.
Bike racks will be numbered and the competitor will proceed to their bike location and head out of transition onto the bike route.
Stewards will be on hand to provide directions to the competitors.

Bike course:
The bike course will be 20km long.
The cycle starts at the boat club over the track right to Daly's cross left to bird hill left at bird hill then to Montpelier,  left to Castleconnell, right to Charco's pub left to village right at village center to transition area two.
All turns will be marshalled be an Garda Siochana and triathlon Marshalls.
Competitors must have a road worthy bike and wear a hard shell helmet. 
When the competitor is entering the transition area to set up their transition space, they will be required to demonstrate that their bikes are roadworthy e.g. by spinning wheels and pulling brakes.
This is time trial cycling so drafting rules will apply.  This means that cyclists may not be closer than 5 metres to other cyclists unless passing which must be done quickly.
Stewards will alert competitors to dangers and descents and these will also be set out in the race briefing document, which will be made available here closer to the event and in the pre-race briefing.

The Run route:
On completing the bike section, competitors will dismount the bike at the ‘dismount’ line before entering the second transition area. Helmets must remain on and fastened until the bike is racked.
The run will be around the village of Castleconnel, it will be a 5km run with the finish at the credit union in the village, it will be fully marshalled.

The Finish
The finish will be infront of the credit union in castleconnell.
It will be an electronically timed event, redtag are doing the timing.
